Guided tours for individual visitors

In the tourist season (from 01 April to 31 October), between the hours of 10.00 a.m. and 3.00 p.m., in view of the vast numbers of visitors, individual tourists have to join guided groups that are made up as successive individual visitors arrive at the exhibition on the site of the former camp Auschwitz I – Stammlager and the site of Auschwitz II – Birkenau. Every day there are numerous tours for individual tourists in several languages: Polish, English, German, French, Italian, Spanish and Czech.
After 3.00 p.m. individual tourists may visit Auschwitz I – Stammlager independently. Individual visitors may move freely around the site of Auschwitz II – Birkenau without any restrictions throughout the museum opening hours.

Entrance charges

Entrance to the museum is free of charge. The only payment is for the rental of the headphone system, a technical convenience that ensures an appropriate level of quiet is maintained in the exhibition while guaranteeing that visitors’ comprehension of the guide’s commentary is unimpaired; the guide speaks into a microphone and visitors listen to the commentary through headphones. The headphone system is mandatory for groups of over ten people. The guide services are also subject to a fee.
