Christmas trip to Krakow during the Krakow Christmas Market
In December, the Market Square in Krakow is the Christmas market where you can find traditional Polish crafts and food such as sheep’s milk cheese from the Tatra mountains, handmade Christmas ornaments, a variety of wood figures, etc. You can also enjoy one of the most beautiful Christmas markets in Europe and learn about the Polish Christmas tradition.
And with a bit of luck, you can see Krakow covered in snow, romantic and mysterious.
Trip Highlights:
- Visit to the St. Mary's Basilica with its famous wooden altarpiece made by Veit Stoss
- Tour of the Wawel Castle - the former royal residence of Poland from the 11th Century
- Visit to the Wawel Cathedral with its royal tombs and Sigismond's Bell
- Excursion to the unique 800-year-old underground salt mine in Wieliczka
- Day trip to one of the most famous ski resort in Poland, Zakopane
Itinerary:
1st day
Arrival in Krakow and transfer to the hotel. Accommodation in a 3-star hotel in the center of the city.
2nd day Old Town and Wieliczka Salt Mine
A guided tour of Krakow. You will discover the beauty of the city, its rich architecture, and history. You will see the Cathedral of Wawel Royal Castle, St. Mary’s Church, and of course the Market Square.
Free time for lunch.
In the afternoon we’ll take you to the Salt Mine in Wieliczka, which is located 15 km from Krakow. The Wieliczka Salt Mine is a true underground city and for about 700 years it has been known for its microclimate and its healthful properties. The Wieliczka Salt Mine is on UNESCO World Heritage List. During your visit, you will discover all three levels of the mine.
Return to Krakow in the evening.
3rd day Krakow or Zakopane
You can choose between a free day in Krakow, or a day trip to one of the most famous ski resort in Poland, Zakopane.
Zakopane is a small town at the foot of the Tatra Mountains. It is distinguished by its mountain folklore (customs, songs, dances, costumes, dialects, and architecture). There is also the pleasure of strolling through the streets, visit shops, galleries and museums, and breathing the fresh air of the Tatras.
Return to Krakow by the end of the day.
4th day
Free time in Krakow.
During the day, transfer to the airport.
