About 90 km south of Krakow in the direction of Zakopane, in Debno, is one of the oldest wooden churches in Poland. Further on the way to Zakopane, we get to the Pieniny Mountains whose main attraction is the Dunajec Gorge which can be crossed on rafts from May to September.
The rafts are sturdy constructions carrying up to 10 people. They leave from the village Sromowce and go to Szczawnica. The water currents running down the gorge are not as dangerous as they first appear. The rafting takes over 2 hours and offers spectacular views of the forest, fields and sheer limestone crags. This whole region from Zips and Pieniny is known for its beautiful mountain paths leading to old castles at Niedzica and Czorsztyn.
