KRAKOW SIGHTSEEING AND CITY TOURS
Bike Trip around Krakow
Krakow is surrounded by the beautiful landscapes of the Krakowska - Czestochowska Valley. Its unique character is attributed to its rocky limestone monadnocks and deep karst valleys covered in thick mixed forests. There are varied flora, streams, caves (including the famous Lokietka cave), some well-preserved old mills, farms, and ruins of medieval castles. The high point is the renaissance Pieskowa Skala Castle - the former summer residence of Polish Kings - also known as “little Wawel”. The region including the Ojcowski National Park and the Krakow Valleys Landscape Park is ideal for 1-day biking trips.
Our expedition begins at Bedkowice, riding through the Bedkowska Valley alongside the stream. We pass by Nietoperzowa Cave, which can also be toured, and go on to Grodzisko Rock - the highest viewpoint which boasts a wonderful panorama. Crossing the route Krakow-Olkusz, we ride on to the Saspowska Valley and Pieskowa Skala, near the border of Ojcowski National Park. A lunch break on the castle’s terrace allows us a short rest. We then continue along the Pradnik River Valley to a village called Ojcow - a summer resort with the remnants of a 14th-Century castle. We ride on to an interesting rock cluster. one of which is the limestone column known as Brama Krakowska (the Cracow gate). We then return to Ojcow and make the journey by minibus back to Krakow.
